So that’s why that jeep rental was worth $165! Sorry everyone, Xanga has been blocked in China for the past several weeks, hence the lack of updates. I finally found access through a proxy, but even that is shaky and I must use html to post images. In the meantime I’ve been updating my Flickr archives. First of note, I organized everything into Collections, which is a nice new feature. I also uploaded a gallery of images from my trip to Malaysia from two years ago. And finally, here are a few more shots from the trip to Mauna Kea, which was truly amazing. Several of those above were taken with a Canon 70-200 2.8 IS L lens, which a friend let me borrow for a week. Awesome lens, but I think I’m going to spring for the 70-300 IS soon, which is 1/3rd the cost. That leaves room for a wide angle zoom to replace my kit lens, and I’m thinking of the Tamron 17-50 2.8, Tamron 28-75 2.8, or Canon 17-85 IS. Any advice?
As for the future of this site, I’m not quite sure what to do with it. As long as it remains blocked in China, I probably will not be updating everyday, but we will see. I’ve started to realize the need for my own domain, independent of Xanga. And I already have two, but I haven’t yet designed full-fledged websites to back them. Anyways, www.shenzhenphotos.com (which currently only links to my Flickr Shenzhen collection) and www.photogiving.com (off to a decent start) are two of my projects awaiting further expansion. If only jessewarren.com wasn’t already taken (and its not even being used!) Although my Xanga updates might be sporadic, you can watch my Flickr Stream as that will be continually updated. As soon as the censors come to their senses and bring back access to Xanga, I’ll be back in action. Take care everyone.
