Going back to HK (TST) in August 2015 – well I go back every year – and I always go to see Andrew Yip because of his honesty. I had great service when buying my Canon 5D Mk III and lens etc so will return.

Everyone wants to sell you something without providing quality service. Andrew and the team at Echo certainly provide all that one could wish for.

Thanks for the article! I’ve mistakenly went to the Sincere Podium in search of film cameras, but didn’t find any FILM cameras there. Then I went to Stanley Street, but I didn’t notice any open camera shops at all (maybe, because it was Sunday?). And only when I headed back to Shenzhen, I’ve stumbled upon a narrow stairway with photos of film cameras. This was a very nice film camera shop with three polite girls working in it. Not only they sell legacy cameras, lenses and film, but also develope it. Their address is: 4/F, No.11, Queen Victoria St., Central. – Maybe it will help any other film enthusiast like me.

How can you make that comment if you haven’t been back in 20 years? I’ve been shopping there for 10 years and I can assure you – HK is a great place to buy camera gear. I agree you can often find deals in your hometown just as good, but on the whole I’ve been able to get things cheaper in HK, especially lenses.

Last time I went to HK was over 20 years ago. I travel and shop in Asia all the time, but not in HK any more.
Got ripped off repeatedly, even threatened with assault by some shopkeepers when pushing for a bargain and have never been back. Even the food is a rip-off. The Tourism authorities don’t want to know and don’t care. Their only interest is your wallet, and in the most aggressive and unpleasant way possible.
Nothing’s changed. CAVEAT EMPTOR. You can get just as cheap camera deals in your home town shop sales, with genuine warranties. If you are stupid enough to buy in HK then you deserve all you get.
For shopping, you are far better off in Singapore, Bangkok or Kuala Lumpur, any time, where bargaining can be enjoyable..

i did take a boat on the seine though and it was one of the best parts of the trip. if u have the time take it in the evnineg then u can see the sun set (no that wasn’t an intentional lame pun) and see the eiffle tower light up

yep we’ve been ‘dun’ also. On checking bank statement this firm had taken our monies (nz dllrs1500) for 2 Samsung phones which we could have bought here in NZ for NZ dllrs 400 for 2!!! Am trying to get their email address to sound off my wrath but don’t we’ll get our money back! don’t suppose you have email address for these fraudsters?
