Saw a student on the street yesterday and realized that school is back in session. It's the first time in six years that I haven't been teaching and frankly I'm kinda happy about that. I enjoyed teaching but it's nice to be doing something else for a change. Here's a shot from my last week of class a few months ago where I taught them how to play dodgeball :) This little dude definitely cheated by stepping over the line! It was chaos, but tons of fun.

Here's one from the roof of my old school last year. Didn't do too much shooting up there, maybe because there wasn't that much to shoot. I feel like this is a signature kind of shot for me: wide angle rooftop long exposure of urban scenery at night!

Sharp S90 City

Took this one from the top of a roof at a house party (not sure mom would approve of me climbing up there!) and was rewarded with some amazing views. I shot in both RAW and JPG and shocked to see that the JPGs appear to look better. Maybe I just don't know what I'm doing but I do plan to master RAW eventually. The S90 is super-sharp in JPG mode though. In the distance straight ahead is the SEG Plaza and to the far right is Diwang and the new Kingkey tower being built next to it.

Nothing special here, just some pretty cool evening colors seen from my balcony one day after work. I applied 10% fill on both highlights and shadows and then +10 saturation - hope it wasn't too much - trying to avoid the fried HDR look. Hong Kong mountains in the background.

Taken in July at the South China Beach Fest with my Canon S90. The compact does a pretty good job at night I think - although it has nothing on a real DSLR. Here's looking forward to the next beach party in two weeks!

More wide angle aerial at night goodness. This is the view from my friends Seb and Joanna's balcony on the 27th floor. It's probably the best view of all my friend's places. I live directly down the street about two big blocks.

Purple Yangjiang Tree

Shot at a park in Yangjiang on our Spring Festival roadtrip back in February. I wasn't really impressed with that city at all - really sleazy. And I'm not sure why I'm shooting f/5.6 and ISO 1600 here. I'm usually shooting at ISO 100 on long exposures, and usually shooting at f/1.4 for a nice shallow DOF, but this one turned out okay anyways I guess.

Here's the view from my balcony on the 7th floor. You're going to be seeing a lot of these over the next year, I think. The view isn't the greatest but it's not that bad either. The pool is usually crowded and gives me something to look at when I'm chilling with a snack on the balcony. I'm also on a bit of an aerial-wide-angle kick lately I guess.
